Honestly, I don’t really enjoy eating any kind of melons. But I love anything melon flavored. And if you need anything cold and refreshing on a hot summer day, this sorbet will be your best friend.
The hardest part of this recipe is probably choosing a ripe honeydew melon at the market. You can ask a worker at the supermarket to help you, or you can get it yourself. When you hold it, it should not be firm, it has to be somewhat soft when you press into it. You won’t be able to check it by smell, because honeydew melons are mild in flavor.
Ingredients needed:
1 Honeydew melon
Juice of a lemon
1 1/2 cup of sugar
1 1/2 cup of water
The first thing to do is the cut the melon and take off the seeds. With a spoon, take out the fruit’s flesh and dice it. Place them on a recipient in a single layer and freeze them for at least an hour.
While the melon is freezing, start the simple syrup. In a pot add equal parts water and sugar and let them come to a boil on high heat. In this case, we are using 1 and 1/2 cup of each. And let it cool down completely afterwards.
When the melon is frozen, put it in a blender or food processor, add the simple syrup and the lemon juice. You can put the juice of a whole lemon or the juice of half a lemon; it depends on how big your lemon is.
Blend everything until smooth. A high powered blender would be preferred for this. Pour the sorbet mixture in a recipient for scooping later; or a ice pop mold if you have one. Freeze it overnight.
Let this recipe bring a big happy s-melon your face!!
Enjoy
