Fresko kay (homemade icy)

Spread the love

I used to drink fresko everyday after school. I used to add toasted peanuts to mine. The pleasure of the good old times! This version of mine uses real fruit for the flavor of the syrups. I got 4 flavors: coconut water, passion fruit, watermelon, coconut milk.

Which color fresko do you like?? Mine was pink.

Ingredients:
1/2 cup of coconut water
1/2 cup of coconut milk
1/2 cup of passion fruit
1/2 cup of watermelon
sugar
ice cubes

Let’s get started!!!

Keep in mind that those are simply the flavors which I choose to use. You can try different fruits, like mango, orange, lime, whatever else you have in mind. Same measurements.

Make the syrup first. Add equal sugar to the amount of liquid, on high heat, to a pot and bring it to a boil. Turn off the heat and let it cool down completely. Fruits like passion fruit or watermelon need to be strained. Either before or after making the syrup.

The coconut water tastes like normal syrup. Just a sugary water. The coconut milk turned translucent, but still retain a coconut flavor.

Once the syrups have cool down, time to crush the ice cubes. In a blender, pulse them until they are completely crushed. Don’t overcrowd the blender. I did 6 cubes at a time.

I spiked my fresko with some Haitian rhum. Totally optional. In a cup, pack the crushed ice and then pour in the syrup of your choice.
