Black humus

Spread the love

Black is my favorite color, so when I see it in food I get really happy and excited to try it. This black humus is not different in flavor to the regular humus. I simply prefer it because of the color.

Once you go black, you never go back.

Ingredients:
For the tahini:

1/2 cup of sesame seeds
1/2 cup of olive oil
1/4 tsp of sea salt

For the humus:
2 cups of chickpeas
1 cup of black tahini
2 tsp of cumin powder
1/2 tbsp of sea salt
4-5 garlic cloves

Let’s get started!!!

This recipe is so easy, you can get a kid to do it for you. But don’t be lazy, and do it yourself.

First is the black tahini. In a blender add in the black sesame seeds, olive oil, and a pinch of salt. Blend them until smooth. The tahini can be used on it’s own. You can spread it on toast for breakfast. Or replace it for mayo in a sandwich.

The next step is the black humus. Similarly to the tahini all you have to do is to add the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth. For my presentation, I made a swirl on top of the humus, pour in a little bit of olive oil and garnish with sunflower seeds. Be creative with the presentation.

Humus is usually eaten with toasted pita bread. You can add it to your pasta, toast, or replace it for mayo in your sandwich.
