The very loved burger buns, with the classic sesame seeds. It was a nice bread. Except, I was too greedy. Instead of making 8 breads, I made 6. Tchuips!!!! I would have had more bread. Don’t make the same mistake.
My mouth don’t want none unless you got buns, hun!!!
Ingredients:
1 egg
2 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour
1 cup of water
4 tbsp of melted butter
sesame seeds
2 tbsp of sugar
1/2 tsp of salt
egg wash (1 egg +1 tbsp milk or water)
Let’s get started!!!
First thing is to activate the yeast. Heat up the water between 105-110 degree F. For me it was about 30 seconds in the microwave. It is not suppose to be hotter than that or the heat will kill the yeast. Add 2 tablespoons of sugar and the dry yeast in the water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes. It will foam up and have a strong yeast smell. If it doesn’t do those two things, then the yeast did not activate.
Once the yeast is activated, in a separate bowl whisk the salt with the egg, making sure that the salt has dissolve in there. Pour in the melted butter and the yeast mixture. Mix them well together. After that, mix in the flour and then start kneading. Knead for about 5-10 minutes. Put some flour on your working surface so it doesn’t stick on there. When it’s done kneading, cover the surface of the dough with oil; put it in a big bowl, cover the top, and let it sit in a warm place so the dough can rise. For me, I just let my dough sit on top of the stove. Let the dough rise for about 2 hours.
Preheat the oven at 350 degrees F.
When the dough has, at least, doubled in size take it out and knead it a bit to flatten it, and divide the dough in 8 pieces. I did 6 pieces in the video, but I really had enough dough to make 8. Form each piece into a ball, and place them on a baking sheet. Cover the 8 balls, and let them rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes. After they have risen, brush the ball with an egg wash, sprinkle some sesame seeds, and put it in the oven for 20 minutes.
They taste best right after they come out of the oven.
Enjoy
Thank you for your time.
