Plum french toast sandwich

Spread the love

If you love french toast but never made a sandwich out of it, you are missing out. When it comes to french toast sandwich only your imagination can hold you back. You can have both savory or sweet versions. Let’s explore this plum version with me.

The PLUMNAIL alone can already tell you how decadent this is going to be.

Ingredients:
4 stale slices of bread
2 plums
1/2 cup of milk
2 tbsp of cream cheese
1 egg
1 tsp of cinnamon
1/4 tsp of nutmeg
a pinch of salt
1/2 tbsp of vanilla extract
1 tbsp of butter to fry the toast

Let’s get started!!

First, assemble the sandwich. Slice the plums in 1/8. Spread each bread slice with some cream cheese. Arrange the plum slices on the bread, and then sandwich them.

Next step is to get the batter ready. In a plate, beat the egg. Add the salt, cinnamon, freshly grated nutmeg and the vanilla extract, and beat them into the egg. Add the milk to the egg mixture and whisk it. I am using evaporated milk for it’s richness.

Soak each side of the sandwich in the batter for one minute. While the sandwich is soaking, melt some butter in a skillet on medium/low heat. Fry each side of the sandwich in the butter for one minute.

When serving, some people like to sprinkle powdered sugar on their french toast. I think it’s absolutely unnecessary; the syrup is more than enough. I served mine with some great maple syrup. It was delightful!

Plums have many health benefits. But before that, you should know that eating any product from nature in it’s most original state is always better than buying it after it has been through many process by a manufacturer.

Plums lower cholesterol levels, improve the health of your heart, improve circulation of blood, relieve constipation and protect against cancer.
